Non-Traditional Credit

Departmental Challenge Examinations
An enrolled student may take departmental Challenge Exams for credit.  A list of approved courses for departmental challenge can be obtained from the Registrar’s Office.  Students desiring to receive credit by departmental challenge must initiate the procedure through the Registrar’s Office.    A grade received in a regular course may not be changed by departmental challenge examination.  Once the form is received in the Registrar’s Office, credit will be posted to the transcript.

Advanced Placement Program (AP)
This is a program offered in cooperation with the Educational Testing Service and various high schools.  Students will generally complete their AP tests while in high school.  Mid-Continent University encourages, but does not require students to complete a particular AP course prior to taking the examination in that area.  Generally, a score of 3 is the minimum required for credit and in some cases a score of 4 or 5 will yield additional credit.  A student must be enrolled at Mid-Continent to receive credit based on satisfactory AP scores.  AP credit may not be used as a repeat of a course taken earlier.

Credit for Experiential Learning
Credit for experiential learning can be obtained for prior learning.  The Advantage student must contact the Advantage Academic Services Department for more information.   Once the paper-work is completed the credit will be posted to the transcript as residential credit.
