VA Information

Military Friendly SchoolMost programs offered by Mid-Continent University are approved for the enrollment of veterans and other eligible persons.  Applicants for admission are encouraged to contact the school’s veterans certifying official in the Financial Aid Office to determine if the program they plan to pursue is approved for enrollment of veterans.

Veterans and other eligible persons who are applying to use their educational benefits for the first time may complete and submit the appropriate application (Form 22-1990 Application for VA Education Benefits or Form 22-5490 Application for Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance) to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs through the following website:  http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI_Bill_Info/education_forms.htm

Those veterans and other eligible persons who have previously applied and received education benefits while attending another school or training establishment must complete and submit at the same website either a Form 22-1995 Request for Change of Program or Place of Training or Form 22-5495 Request for Change of Program or Place of Training Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance in order to receive benefits while attending Mid-Continent University.  All of the above forms are also available from the Financial Aid Office at Mid-Continent University.

In addition to the above listed forms, all veterans and other eligible persons will need to supply a copy of their appropriate form DD-214 to the school’s veterans certifying official in the Financial Aid Office.

Once the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs verifies and approves the eligibility for educational benefits, a ‘Certificate of Eligibility’ is sent to the applicant.  This eligibility letter must be presented to the school’s veterans certifying official in the Financial Aid Office to properly submit the certification of enrollments to the VA.

Tuition and fees benefit payment for The Post-9/11 GI Bill, Chapter 33 is paid proportionally for the aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001, and is paid directly to the school.  The individual may be entitled to a monthly housing allowance and a stipend for books and supplies.  The housing allowance and book stipends are paid directly to the students.

Benefits payments under Chapter 30/1607/1606 and Chapter 35 are made directly to the students.  The payment is made to the student for the number of days the student is certified for the month.  The number of credit hours enrolled for the length of the class/module will also impact the amount of the benefit paid.

Mid-Continent University is participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program provision of the Post-9/11 GI Bill.  For eligible individuals, the Yellow Ribbon Program will pay the tuition and fees expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition and fees rate.
