Mid-Continent sponsoring Mayfield's first Gospel Music Fest

July 30, 2013 (Mayfield, KY) Gospel music is a favorite of Mayfield and Graves Countians, and in August – every Saturday night – they can get their fill for free on the Courthouse lawn. As the Summer Music Festival ended with its final concert last Saturday night, the fun will continue… but with a different theme.

“I remember last year during the last concert of July, several people came up to me and said that they hated that the Saturday night concerts were ending in July. It was one of my priorities to try to continue it this year. When I contacted Mid Continent University about underwriting a series of Gospel Music Concerts, they were on board immediately,” commented Mayor Teresa Cantrell.

The lineup of singers for Mayfield’s first Gospel Music Fest includes the following:

August 3 – By Grace
August 10 – Better Way
August 17 – Ann Downing from the Gaither Homecoming Series
August 24 – Jasper Dawn
August 31 – Emily Duff

Mayor Cantrell encourages everyone to come to the concerts, which will all begin at 7pm and will be held on the front lawn of the courthouse. Remember to bring a chair or blanket for seating. Each night concessions will be available. In the event of rain, concert will be cancelled for the evening.last year during the last concert of July, several people came up to me and said that they hated that the Saturday night concerts were ending in July.
